Sørum Kirke

Sørum Kirke is the only Hadeland church located on the west side of the Randsfjord.  It takes its name from the Sørum farm on which it is built, and means "southern farm."  This is a common farm name in Hadeland, but the Sørum Church is located in Bjoneroa.

On February 5, 1859. pastor Søren Bugge ordered everyone in the parish to contribute to a church fund to build a church on the west side of the Randsfjord.  Public funds were added to the private donations and a plan was drawn up by architect Jacob wilhelm Nordan.  Anders Olsen Sørum donated the land for the church, and Lars Jacobsen Hvinden donated the lumber.  The church was dedicated on September 25, 1861.  Most of the furnishings were purchased at that time, but the altar came from the Grinaker stave church.
