| Highlights of the 2013 annual meeting
included Ole Gamme's presentation of a DVD of the Bjørkvik archive
to Giants of the Earth Heritage Center in honor of Georgia Rosendahl, who
has done so much for the Kontaktforum Emigrant Identification
Project. The membership voted to make a donation to Norway
House. By-Law changes were passed. A new secretary was
elected. There was a discussion of the 2015 trip to Norway. After a great lunch, Bill Fried of "Giants" explained each of the murals in the room painted by Sigmund Aarseth. The rain stopped long enough for some to take a "crisp" walk down to the park to view the statues there. Professor Jonathan Storlie explained the many ways in which DNA and genotyping can be used to explore your ancestry and the 23andme genetic testing program. Thanks to Georgia Rosendahl for inviting the lag to meet in Spring Grove, and for the hospitality shown by everyone at the Heritage Center who made it a great day for all who attended! |
