2024 Hadeland Lag Visit to Norway
Oslo Tour
Friday, June 7th
On our way to the KonTiki, Fram and Norwegian Maritime Museums, we passed the Royal Summer residences and we believe we saw King Harald leaving the residence. We stopped for lunch at the Norsk Folkemuseum and then traveled across the city to the Munch Museum. Our last stop was the Norwegian Resistance Museum for a guided tour.
Saturday, June 8th
We visited The Historical Museum in the morning and had free time during the afternoon. Saturday evening, we had a dinner tour on the Oslo Fjord.

Hadeland Tour
Sunday, June 9th
On our way to Hadeland, we had a guided tour of Frogner Park to see the Vigeland sculptures.
We stopped for lunch at an Aquavit Distillery which include a tour and samples.
After dinner we had our Hadeland welcome program.
Monday, June 10th
Our first full day in Hadeland. The morning included visits to the new Tingelstad and Nes churches. After lunch we visited the Grinakervev, a weaver of table linens and clothing.
Tuesday, June 11th - Hadeland
In the morning we made a trip to the Hadeland Folkemuseum where we visited St Petri, a medieval stone church,
the interpretive center and many of the buildings on the grounds.
After lunch at Hadeland Gjestegård we had free time in Gran's city center.
Wednesday, June 12th - Hadeland
We visited Hadeland Glass Works where one of our hosts was Jørn Didriksen, a silver medalist speed skater from the 1976 Winter Olympics. Lunch was at Øvre Vang, a historic farm, close to Jevnaker church. Visits to Jevnaker and Lunner churches ended our day.
Thursday, June 13th - Hadeland
Tours of the Steinhuset (Stone House), Grinaker Gard (site of the Grinaker stave church) and a service in the Sister Churches (Medieval stone churches). Farm tours were provided during the afternoon. That evening we enjoyed a concert by the Men's choir in St Nikola (one of the sister churches).

Extended Tour
Friday, June 14th - Lillehammer
We began the Extended Tour with a day in Lillehammer, visiting Maihaugen, an outdoor museum, the Olympic ski jump hill and time exploring downtown Lillehammer.
Saturday, June 15th - Lillehammer to Trondheim
We stopped at the Norwegian Road Museum on our way to Trondheim.
Sunday, June 16th - Trondheim
We visited Stiklestad, the site of St Olaf's last battle. In the afternoon we had a guided tour of the Nidaros Cathedral, the burial place of St Olaf. The tour included the Archbishop's Palace, the Crown Regalia to see the Norwegian Crown Jewels, and the Cathedral itself.
Monday, June 17th - Trondheim to Ålesund
On the way to Ålesund we traveled the Atlantic Highway and enjoyed multiple ferry crossings. We arrived early to have time to explore Ålesund and watch the cruise ships depart.
Tuesday, June 18th - Ålesund to Loenfjord
We traveled many switchbacks to the top of Dalsnibba, an overlook of the Geiranger Fjord, and then back to Geiranger for a ferry ride thru the Geiranger Fjord. At our hotel, one of the younger tour participants took a swim in the fjord.
Wednesday, June 19th - Loenfjord to Bergen
On the way to Bergen we enjoyed the scenery and another ferry crossing.
Thursday, June 20th - Bergen
After a guided walking tour of the Bryggen district and the fish market, participants had time to shop and take the funicular to the top of Mt Fløyen, an overlook of the city.
Friday, June 21st - Bergen to Oslo
On our way back to the Oslo airport, we had stops in Dale at the sweater factory store, Tvindefossen, a waterfall north of Voss, and the Borgund Stave Church.
