   Born: March 4, 1860 on West Sørum, Bjonroen.  Emigration: April 23, 1880, landing in Quebec on May 14.  Residences: Township of Lisbon, Yellow Medicine County MN  Occupation: Farmer   Church: The United Norwegian Lutheran Church  School: Public grade school and high school in Norway.  Married: Kjersti B Molstad on November 7, 1889.  Children: Martine, 23; Magna, 21; Cora, 15; Alvin, 12.  Parents: Farmer Anders O Sørum (born on West Sørum 1883<as in original>, died 1887) and Marthe Sørum (born in 1883 on Oksne, South Land)  Siblings: Ole Sørum, Paul Sørum and Ingvald Sørum, all Bjonroen Norway; Kristian Sørum, Thorvald, Sørum, Martinus Sørum; Martha Grinager, Clarkfield MN; Marie O Sørenson, Clarfield MN.   Paternal Grandparents: Ole and Ingeborg Sørum  Maternal Grandparents: Iver and Ingeborg, Søndre Land.  Father's Siblings: Ole, Erik, Gulbrand, Karen, Marie, Kjersti, the last two are deceased.

   Born: July 17, 1874, Spydbek, Tingelstad.  Emigration: September 1895, arriving in New York on September 1895 aboard Am. Line  Residences: Moorhead IA.  Occupation: Businessman and farmer, town clerk school director and councilman, Vice President, Moorhead State Bank.     Church: Lutheran  School: Elementary school at Elkevang and high school in Gran and Tingelstad.  Married: Oline Erickson Ragnhildrud on September 5, 1895 on Sandvold.  Children:  Conrad E, 22; Bertha C, 20; Evelyn, 14; Oscar, 11; (remarried in 1920)  Parents: Father Christen Nilsen Sandvold (Myrbakken). and Kari Hansdatter Wamstadeidet.  Siblings: Mrs. Ole Johnson (Ingeborg), Moorhead IA; Mrs. Martha Dahle, Sokna Station, Norway; H O Sandvold, Soldier IA; Oluf Sandvold, Jaren Station, Norway; K C Sandvold, Moorhead IA.    Paternal Grandparents: Nils and Marthe Myrbakken    Father's Siblings: Seg't A Nielson, Brandbu; Ole Nelson, Milton ND; Mrs. Marie Peterson, Milton ND; Mrs. Kari Erickson, Gran Hadeland.

Ole Monsen  Born: May 12, 1860 on Tuftspladsen  Emigration: June 1, 1882 aboard the ship "Prussian," arriving in Fargo ND  Residences: Clay County MN since 1883.  Occupation: Farmer; chairman fo the board of Supervisors; clerk for the school district for 20 yrs.  Military Service: Discharged as a sargeant in 1881.  Church: School: public school and 2nd Brigade underofficer school in Norway.  Married: Ingeborg Pedersdatter Lysaker in June, 1885.  Children: Ida, Gustav, Anna, Olga.   Parents: Mons Christensen, Hadeland.  

 

56-4 P A Sorum                                     Canton SD

Peder Andersen Sørumsengen.  Born: February 16, 1865 on Sørumsengen  Emigration: April 27, 1888 aboard the "Sylvia," landing in New York on May 15.  Residences: Lanesboro MN until 1889; Sioux Falls SD until 1900; since then in Canton SD,  Occupation: Painter    Church: The United Norwegian Lutheran Church.  School: public school; business school in Kristiania  Married: Anna K Anderson on March 9, 1899.  Children: Lorentz Arnold, August 23, 1909; Frithjof Thorvald, April 29, 1904; Valborg Bergliot, June 14, 1906; Agnes Solveig, May 11, 1909; the oldest born in Sioux Falls, the rest in Canton SD.  Parents: Tailor and farmer Anders Pederson (born November 14, 1813 on Rossumsmoen, died on Sørumsengen on December 3, 1898) and Berte Torgrimsdatter (born in Tingelstad on December 30, 1823; died July 14, 1887).  Siblings: Anne Sandbek, West Toten (deceased); Kirsti Botolfsen, Kristiania (deceased); Pernille A Haug, Canton SD; Randi A Christie, Lanesboro MN; Torgrim A Sørumsengen, Jaren Station, Norway; Marie C Greviøs, Canton SD; Hilda J Ullberg, Mott ND.    Maternal Grandparents: Torgim Torgrimson and Kirsti Pedersdtr.  Father's Siblings: Halvor Pederson Rossumsmoen, Richland County ND.

   Born: Born in the town of York on April 12, 1857.    Residences: Town of York, Green County WI  Occupation: Farmer and breeder of purebred horses    Church: The Norwegian Lutheran Church in the town of Adams.           Parents: Farm worker Ole Christoffer Holterbakken (born February 26,1831 and died May 10, 1896; he was a founder of the Adams congregation and veteran of the Civil War) and Anne Pedersdtr, Rongstad, (born July 5 1832 and died December 29,1900).   Siblings: Christian, Hollandale WI; Jana, Argyle WI; Christoffer and Maria, both deceased.  Paternal Grandparents: Christoffer and Johanne Holterbakken  Maternal Grandparents: Peder and Randi Rongstad. Randi Rongstad was married to Peter, a blacksmith who made scythes. Iver Rongstad. (it is unclear why the name Iver Rognstad is included here)   

 

57-2 Lars Olson Storskogen             New Richmond WI, R 6

   Born: July 24, 1840 on Storskogen in Lunner.  Emigration: In 1869, aboard the "Caledonia," landing in New York.  Residences: Iowa County WI, 2 yrs; La Crosse WI, 2 yrs; since then in Polk County WI.  Occupation: Farmer     Church: The United Norwegian Lutheran Church    Married: Martha Lannerud, died 1887, and then married Ingeborg Bjøralt in 1888.  Children: Olaf, born July 4, 1889.  Parents: Tenant Farmer Ole Storskogen and Dorthe Jensdtr, Skøien.  Siblings: Ole, Kari, Anne, Iver, Marthe, Marie, Dorthe, Per, Tobias, Oline.  Paternal Grandparents: Ole Olson and Anne Olson     Father's Siblings: Lars, deceased.     

 

57-3 Christen Christensen                 Swennungseidet, Hayward MN

   Born: Born on Sletmoen in Hadeland, October 14, 1843.  Emigration: 1892, aboard the "Servia" and landing in New York on May 13.  Residences: Hayward MN.  Occupation: Farmer     Church: The Norwegian Synod     Married: Anne Maria Nilsdatter Raasum, born on Vilaaser February 9, 1945.  Children: Christian (deceased), Kari, Elline (deceased), Hans (deceased), Anna Christine (deceased), Hans Andreas Swennung, ND.  Parents: Lumberman Christen Jakobsen Sletmoen and Berte Sletmoen.  Siblings: Marie Sletmoen, hans Aabraaten, Hans Kudalen, Brede Mosmoen, Ole Aabraaten, all in Norway; Kari Ellestad, deceased.  Paternal Grandparents: Christen Jacobsen Sletmoen, Brandbu and Kari Sletmoen.  Maternal Grandparents: Jakob Jakobsen and wife Berte.  Father's Half-Siblings: Jakob, Torsten, Ole, Gulbrand, Marte, Anne.

Name changed from Steffen E Steffenson Korsrud.  Born: September 8, 1856 in Lynner, Hadeland.  Emigration: 1869, aboard the "Johan," arriving in Argyle WI on July 7.   Residences: 4 yrs in Argyle; 29 yrs in Wiota, Lafayette County WI; 9 yrs in St Croix County.  Occupation: Farmer, assessor and treasurer in Wiota.     Church: The United Norwegian Lutheran Church  School: Common school  Married: Anne Marie Olson on April 11, 1890.  Children: Albert, born September 30, 1890; Elmer, September 9, 1892; Melvin, July 29, 1894; Arman, June 21, 1896; Slema, April 14, 1898; Vera, December30, 1900; Nagel, August 15, 1905; Roland, July 29, 1902; all born in Wiota.  Parents: Erik Steffensen Korsrud (born in Hadeland, blacksmith and farmer in Norway, farmer in America; he has been dead about 14 yrs) and Mari Andersdtr Bjørge (died about 3 years ago in America at 87 yrs of age.)  Siblings: Mrs E O Stiwood, 3016 E 29th Street, Minneapolis MN; Mrs. C O Stiwood, South Wayne WI; Andrew Stephenson, Woodford WI; Henry Stephenson, Woodford WI.  Paternal Grandparents: Steffen Eriksen Westeru and Ingeborg Vattum.  Maternal Grandparents: Anders Anderson Lyngstad and wife Kari.  Father's Siblings: Lage Steffensøn, died in New York many years ago; Guner Steffenson, died many years ago in Brazil; Paal Steffenson died in Norway.  Mother's Siblings: Halvor Dælinsmarken and Anders Hage, both died in Norway many years ago.

   Born: July 19, 1888 in Brandbu  Emigration: Aboard the "Oscar II," October 25, 1908, arriving in Hudson on November 10.  Residences: Hudson SD  Occupation: Farmworker     School:  High school in Norway.    Parents: Ole Strand (born May 8, 1862 on Strand in Storeelvedalen; teacher in the Bjørklund School in Brandbu) and Elise Strong (born on Grimsrud on August 24, 1861).  Siblings: Einar Strand, Hudson SD; Magnhild Strand, Bleiken, Norway.  Paternal Grandparents: Tarald and Pernille Strand  Maternal Grandparents: Erik and Mari Grimsrud  Father's Siblings: Karinius, John, Ditlev, Randine, Pauline, and Hanna Strand.

   Born: September 24, 1891 in Brandbu.  Emigration: Aboard the "Oscar II" April 7, 1911 arriving in Hudson on April 22, 1911.   Residences: Hudson SD  Occupation: Farmworker     School: High school in Norway.   (See T O Strand, Hudson SD, for family information)

   Born: June 28, 1863 on Solihagen in Hadeland.  Emigration: Aboard the "Maraton," landing in Boston on February 21,1884.  Residences: Freeborn County MN  Occupation: Farmer and businessman.    Church: The Norwegian Synod     Married: Berte Olina Bagaasen on October 31, 1891.  Children: Gina Bertine, September 9, 1892; Selma Gustine, October 22, 1894; Mabel Henriette, January 22, 1897; Barbra Adeline, March 16, 1899; Ella Trine, October 5, 1901; all born in Albert Lea MN.  Parents: Farmer Gudmund Ch. Sveningseie (born October 29, 1839) and Gjertrud Nilsdtr Brunstad (born October 29, 1829)  Siblings: Paternal Grandparents: Maternal Grandparents: Father's Siblings: Mother's Siblings: M  

 

58-4 Guldbjør Thorstensdatter Smedshammerengen   Northwood ND

   Born: July 11, 1858.  Emigration: In 1874, abord the Sailing Ship "Pontocorvo" arriving in Quebec on June 20.  Residences: Clayton County IA, 3 yrs; Layn, Iowa for a short time ; Northwood ND, since 1881.   Married: Tollef Olsen Fladager on March 8, 1878. He died in 1914.  Children: Thea, born August 29, 1883; Oliana, born August 25, 1885; Gina, born October 31, 1889; Mabel, born June 13, 1892; Theodor, born October 30, 1894; Bernhard, born October 20, 1896; Sam, born May 6, 1899;first born died at less than one year old; all were born in Northwood ND.  Siblings: Christen T Kjos, Aneta ND; Nils T Kjos, Loma ND.

Name changed from Snellingen.  Born: December 30, 1854 on Monserud, Lunner.  Emigration: May 1881, aboard the "American" Line, landing in Philadelphia on May 19.  Residences: Renville County MN, 1881-1890; since then in Swift County.  Occupation: Farmer  Military Service: Vice corporal while serving a Helgelandsmoen from 1877-1878.  Church: The United Norwegian Lutheran Church.  School: Ambulatory school  Married: Kari Kristiansen Retrumsmoen from Brandbu on March 19, 1886.  Children: Peter Alfred, April 19, 1887; Clara, July 10, 1888; John, March 16, 1891; Oskar, July 6, 1894; Lydia, January 12, 1897; Argine, December 31, 1900.  Parents: Peder hansen Snellingen, farmer (1820-1899) and Anne Andersdatter from Neverbæk in Jevnaker.  Siblings: Hans, Berthe (deceased), Gustav, Karine, Johanne in Norway.  Paternal Grandparents: Hans and Ingeborg Snellingen. Hans Snellingen fought in the war between Norway and Sweden; was a skillful bearhunter and died in 1854.  Maternal Grandparents: Anders Arnesen Arnedahl and Berthe Arnedahl.  Father's Siblings: Johannes, Paul, Ole, all deceased.

Name changed from Even A Svevnerud Raaseie  Born: February 13, 1851 on Hermansrud, West Toten.  Emigration: August 30, 1901 aboard the "Norge," arriving in Salt Lake City UT on September 17, 1901.  Residences: Salt Lake City, 1 yr; since September 15 1902 in Randall MN.  Occupation: Farmer  Military Service: Soldier in 1874; 4 yrs in Hegelandsmoen and 1/2 yr at the Garrison in Kristiania.  Church: The Norwegian Synod.  School: Public school  Married:  Randi Olsdatter from Dvergsteneie in Tingelstad, on December 27, 1872  Children: Anton, born May 14, 1873; Olaf, born May 21, 1874 and died in February of 1878; Johanne Marie, born November 11, 1879; MN; Mina, born April 5, 1883; Olaf, born November 27, 1885 and died in June of 1889; Hilda, born September 13, 1888; Oline, born January 25, 1891; all born in Norway.   Parents: Andrias Nilsen, Lumberman and Marie Pedersdatter.  Siblings: Penilie Bursvoldssvea, West Toten; Marie Mathie, died in Albert Lea MN; Nils Skaugrud; Peder A. Franklin, died in Salt Lake City UT, 1904.    

 

59-3 Anders P Svingen                        Montevideo MN

Name changed from Anders Pederson.  Born: April 23, 1849 on Moldeneie, Gran, Hadeland.  Emigration: Aboard the "Dagmar" on April 10, 1867 arriving in McGregor IA on June 20, 1867.  Residences: Clairmont IA, 9 yrs; since March 18, 1876 in Chippewa County MN.  Occupation: Farmer     Church: The Norwegian Synod.     Married: Thora Pederson on November 16, 1873.  Children: five children, of whom two survived.  Parents: Peder Pederson, shoemaker, (born in Gran where he has lived his whole life) and Anne Pedersdatter (born January 12, 1812; died in Montevideo at 90 years of age).  Siblings: Peder Pederson Tange, Gran, Hadeland.  In Montevideo for 8 yrs.    

 

59-4 Mrs. Ingeborg Sørum                  Rushford MN

   Born: September 29, 1853 on Sørgaarden, Hoff.  Emigration: 1867 aboard the "Victoria," landing in Quebec.  Residences: Bratsberg MN, 1/2 yrs; since then in Rushford MN.  Occupation: Farmer    Church: Lutheran Church.     Married: Lars Sørum from Stuberoa, Gran Hadeland. He died on June 10, 1904.  Children:  Thom Sorum, Rushford MN; Mrs. C M Moe, Springfield MN; Inga, Louis, Gynter, Gena and Carl Sorum, Rushford MN.  Parents: Hans P Hoff (July 24, 1826 on Sørgaarden Hoff, died May 1912 after farming on North Prairie near Lanesboro for over 50 years) and Maren Lysen (born on the Lysen farm in Land on December 25, 1820; died July 20, 1894).   Siblings: Hans H Hoff, Whalan MN; Paul Hoff, died in Knox ND; Erik Hoff, died in Grassrange MT.  Paternal Grandparents: Paul and Enger Hoff  Maternal Grandparents: Hans Lysen and Ifra Vien.  Father's Siblings: Peder Hoff, Gran Hadeland; Mrs. Martha Moe, Springfield MN, 80 years of age; Mrs. Anna Christenson, 301 Chestnut St, Grand Forks ND.

   Born: on North Røste  Emigration: In 1869, came to Lafayette County WI  Residences: Lafayette County WI; Minnehaha County SD since 1874.  Occupation: Farmer    Married: Sofie Eriksdatter Warpet from Hakkedalen. She is now deceased.     Parents: Søren Hanson (born on Upper Røste) and Kjersti Iversdatter (born on Kalvsjømarken).     

 

60-2 Hans Eriksen Tandberg              Northwood ND

   Born: January 5, 1842 on Tandberg in Gran.  Emigration: With parents in 1853 on the "Tegner," landing in Quebec after 6 weeks and 3 days voyage.  Residences: 3-4 yrs in the town of Muskego WI, then in Green County and for the past 27 years in ND.    Married: Karen Amundsdatter, Slaatbraaten (born October 14, 1853 in Gran)  Children: 3 sons and 4 daughters.  Parents: Farmer and miller Erik Tandberg (born in Ringerike) and Marie Helene Olsdtr, Gran.  Siblings: 3 brothers and 3 sisters, one brother still living.    

 

60-3 Mikkel A Teslow                            Hayward MN

   Born: December 22, 1856 in Hadeland.  Emigration: April 1862, landing in New York in June.  Residences: Decorah IA for 3 yrs and since then in Hayward MN.  Occupation: farmer, school treasurer and chairman of the town supervisors.     Church: The Norwegian Synod.     Married: Ida Amalie on February 2, 1883.  Children: Alma, 27; Olaf, 23; Beatrice, 21; Walter 19; Rayman 12; and Valborg, 6.  Parents: Anders Teslow was a miller, and has gone by the name "Anders Maler", and Anne Næs.  Siblings: Hans, Glenwood MN; Anders, Minneapolis MN; Gilbert, Hayward MN; Anton, Minneapolis MN; Peter, Faribault MN; Richard, Medicine Lake MT; Anne MArie, Albert Lea MN; and Minnie, Hayward MN.  Paternal Grandparents: Nils Røken and Anne Sørenson.  Maternal Grandparents: Hans and Gulbjør Anderson. They were farm folk living on Ridtmester Bergh. They had 11 children, three who lived close by became tenant farmers and only three are still alive..   

 

60-4 Marie Torgeson                            Hudson WI

Maiden name was Marie Johansdtr. Lille Augeløkke.  Born: April 16, 1859 on Elkeneidet, Gran, Hadeland.  Emigration: June 25, 1879 aboard the "Hekla," landing in Philadelphia on July 14.   Residences: Hudson WI since July 17, 1879.    Church: The United Norwegian Lutheran Church.     Married: Lars Kverner on July 26, 1881; he died on November 24, 1897.  Married Knut Torgeson on October 20, 1900.  Children: Olga, born April 18, 1882; John, March 5, 1884. Both were born in Hudson.  Parents: John Eriksen Solberg (born June 19, 1827 in Gran, Hadeland and died in Polk County WI on July 16, 1905) and Marie Halvorsdatter Fallang (born in Gran on November 26, 1830 and died in Polk County WI on August 10, 1906).  Siblings: Halvor, Lunner Norway; Andrew, Hudson WI; John A, Hudson WI; Otilie Andersen, Hudson WI; Erik, died January 3, 1991, Polk County WI.
