Genealogy

The Hadeland Lag offers specialized genealogical resources and support for researching ancestors from  the Hadeland area of Norway. Hadeland is made up of the historical districts of Brandbu, Gran, Lunner, and Jevnaker.  Unlike other areas of Norway, Hadeland does not have a bygdebok, which can make genealogical research particularly difficult.

  • Along with those resources available in the public Resource section of the website, the Lag is constantly updating and expanding the Limited Access Archive which is available only to Lag members.

  • The lag's extensive collection of microfilms, books, and paper research files are available in the genealogy room at each year's stevne.

  • Members of our genealogy committee are familiar with the farm names, church and census records, and other sources for doing ancestral searching. Their services are available at no charge to members of the Lag.

  • Kontaktforum Hadeland-Amerika is a sister group in Hadeland that is collecting information about emigrants from the area. Their knowledge and services are available using original local records in Norway.
