2006 Stevne Memories

The 2006 stevne was hosted by Hadeland Lag with our president, Delores Cleveland, as coordinator. It was held at the Holiday Inn in Sioux Falls SD.

The opening activity was a local tour that included stops at the Butterfly House and Augustana College Heritage Park. Coffee was served at East Nidaros Lutheran Church and supper was served at Remer Lutheran Church. An open house was held from 7:00 - 8:30 for local folks curious about the stevne.

The opening session was held on Thursday morning. Bill Peterson & Company provided fiddle music. Kari Høghaug provided the "Call of the Lur." Along with greetings from local and lag officials, Lena Olsen paid an unexpected visit. "Three Voices: Speaking from the Past" explored the experience and perspective of three 19th century women: a Euro-American, a Native American, and a Black American.

Genealogy was open Thursday and Friday, and a variety of classes and demonstrations were presented. A tour of the USGS EROS center was held on Thursday afternoon.

Entertainment for the Friday evening banquet was provided by the Minnehaha Mannskor, with a solo by the stevne's special guest Kari Lette Høghaug.

The Lag's annual meeting was held on Saturday morning. A gift certificate was presented to Delores for her work as president and in appreciation for her efforts coordinating the stevne. A picnic with Landingslaget was held in Falls Park.
