Moen Kirke
The Moen Church is a red-painted wooden church on the road leading to Gjøvik. It was dedicated on June 18, 1914. Located on the border with Toten, it was a good distance from the Sister Churches when travel was accomplished by horse and buggy or on foot. The original buildings included a stable with 8-horse stalls. When the decision to build the church was made, requests for contributions were sent not only to members of the parish but also to Hadelanders in America. 2600 kroner, or about 13 percent of the 20,000 kroner cost of the church, came from Hadeland-Americans. Land was donated by Kjersti and Johan Trulserud and the lumber was donated by the Tingelstad forest cooperative. |
